The number of passengers at Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (BRHIA) increased to seven million in 2025, up 25 percent compared to the previous year, marking the highest traffic level since 2019.
Arrivals rose to 3.6 million passengers, an increase of 30 percent. Departures climbed by 20 percent to 3.4 million. Cargo activity also expanded, with total freight volumes up 18 percent, and the number of aircraft movements increasing by 19 percent year on year.
Middle East Airlines (MEA) accounted for approximately 43 percent of passenger traffic at BRHIA. The airport is currently served by 32 other international airlines.
Better security and more stable politics are the main contributors to this growth in travel. The reopening of the airports in Syria has not impacted the traffic in Beirut.
Passenger growth was also supported by a series of operational and infrastructure improvements implemented at the airport during 2025. These included upgrades to passenger processing systems, enhancements to terminal facilities, and measures aimed at easing congestion during peak travel periods. Check-in and boarding procedures were streamlined through improved ground handling coordination and better use of available terminal space, helping to reduce waiting times and improve passenger flow.
