New Airbus for MEA
Ten more aircrafts will be delivered by 2021
Share
The national flag carrier Middle East Airlines (MEA) received a new ‘Airbus 320’ aircraft on September 3. MEA now operates a fleet of 17 aircrafts.
Last year, MEA signed a new agreement with leading aircraft manufacturer Airbus to acquire ten more planes (Airbus 321, 320) for around $1 billion to boost its fleet.
Two aircrafts will join the MEA fleet in 2018, followed by another three in 2019, three in 2020, and two in 2021. Four current Airbus 321s and 4 Airbus 320s will be decommissioned.
The new additions to the fleet are part of MEA’s expansion plan to reach more destinations.
The new plane holds the airline alliance SkyTeam symbol. MEA is the 17th Sky Team member, and its second member from the Middle East region. Joining SkyTeam allowed MEA to expand its global reach and offer passengers more destinations worldwide.
MEA customers can earn and redeem miles on services operated by all SkyTeam member airlines.
