The government has concluded an agreement with Pfizer for the procurement of 2.1 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. The doses will start to arrive in Lebanon during the first half of February.

Another 2.7 million doses are expected from a program by the United Nations earmarked for needy countries, at $18 per dose. A World Bank loan is to cover most of the cost.

Around 20 percent of the population is expected to receive vaccination free of charge. The rest will be charged at a yet unannounced fee.

Another two million doses are being negotiated in coordination with the private sector and Oxford-Astrazeneca and China’s Sinopharm, said a statement by the Ministry of Public Health.
