Industrial waste treatment project gets $150,000 grant
Share
The Community Support Program (CSP), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has launched the ‘Industrial Wastewater Treatment’ project (IWT) in partnership with the Association of Industrialists (ALI).
A grant of $150,000 was awarded to ALI to improve industrial wastewater treatment and mitigate pollution.
ALI will provide financial and technical support to seven agro-industrial firms to help them adopt low-cost and low-tech solutions in order to reduce wastewater generated from their pickle, tahini, and olive production facilities. In addition to the USAID grant, ALI will contribute $20,000 in support of the initiative.
USAID had previously partnered with ALI to promote water conservation and pollution mitigation among nine marble and rock cutting firms. ALI was one of many partners assisted by USAID over the past ten years under the over $100 million support program to the water sector.
