Global financial services provider, Credit Suisse, held its second annual MENA Conference in Beirut on November 3. The conference brought together speakers from over 40 corporates across the region.

The conference is dedicated to discussing measures that can help realize the economic potential of the region in light of global economic challenges, and the political events that have affected MENA nations.

Head of Portfolio Strategy and Thematic Research at Credit Suisse, Michael O'Sullivan, addressed the economic challenges and long term opportunities for MENA nations affected by the uprising. He said that economic variables like GDP per capita and foreign direct investment tend to rise in the decade after a political change has taken place while unemployment and inflation typically decline.

Credit Suisse has been active in the Middle East for more than 40 years. The bank today is present in Beirut, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Doha, Dubai, Manama, and Riyadh.
