IPT, the energy company mainly involved in the distribution of petroleum products, plans to expand into Jordan and other strategic markets and is developing a long-term plan to diversify into the renewable energy sector.
“IPT is preparing to enter the Jordanian market next year in partnership with TotalEnergies. We will be involved in activities similar to our operations in Lebanon including operating gas stations, projects in renewable energy, biofuels, and electric vehicle charging stations. This is part of our regional expansion, we started in the UAE, then Saudi Arabia, and now in Jordan,” said Toni Issa, Executive Chairman of the Issa Group, owner of IPT Group Holding.
Issa said that IPT is also preparing a 20-year vision with an executive plan to morph from an oil company into an energy company that will be involved in both fossil fuel energy and renewable energy activities including renewable energy products and services. “We will seek to balance the size of investments in these two kinds of energy,” he said. Moreover, the company will increase the number of electric vehicle (EV) charging points in its gas station network from 50 to 200 within one year.
Regarding his company’s activities in 2024, Issa said: “In Lebanon, we ensured business continuity across all operations and strengthened our regional footprint through strategic investments. In the UAE, we acquired a new storage terminal in Hamriyah Free Zone, reinforcing our presence in regional logistics, fuel storage, and trading. We also secured a 100,000-square-foot plot in Dubai Industrial City to scale our distribution capabilities. We launched IPT Energy KSA, marking our official entry into the Saudi market. This step aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and builds on more than five decades of expertise to help shape the future of energy in the region.”
Issa was talking on the occasion of the launch of IPT’s Sustainability Report 2024. This is its second one following the 2023 sustainability report released last year. Issa said: “In line with our transparency goals, we published our first Sustainability Report in full alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and released Lebanon’s first Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Emissions Report in the energy sector, setting a new national benchmark in environmental accountability.” He said that 2024 was also a landmark year with IPT becoming the first company in Lebanon’s energy sector to attain full Integrated Management System certification by adopting ISO standards for Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety in addition to its already existing ISO Quality Management.
The Sustainability Report 2024 features IPT’s achievements in four sustainability pillars: the governance, quality, health, and safety pillar, energy and environmental management, enriching local community, and the human capital excellence pillar.
