Customer deposits in banks in ‘fresh dollars’ are projected to increase by 34 percent in 2026 to exceed $6 billion at the end of the year. This figure could be reached if the growth trend continues at the same pace witnessed in the first seven months. According to Bank Audi’s Lebanon Weekly Monitor, these deposits have already increased by 20 percent, or by around $900 million to $5.4 billion at the end of July. The increase is equivalent to a monthly growth of nearly $130 million compared to $107 million in 2025.

The banks’ available fresh dollar liquidity exceeds the fresh dollar deposits by $2.9 billion, representing the banks' own assets. Total fresh dollar liquidity therefore amounted to $8.3 billion at the end of July.

Fresh deposits are available only for withdrawals by their owners. The rest of the liquidity is available for regular banking activity such as lending.

Cleared checks in fresh dollars more than doubled (2.2 times) during the first half of 2026 to exceed $780 million, according to the Association of Banks’ Economic Report for June 2026.
