The World Bank approved, on November 29, a $3 million grant earmarked for the Governance and Knowledge Generation Project.

The project includes Lebanon, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, and Tunisia. It was developed in collaboration with the Global Environment Facility (GEF) as part of the Mediterranean Sustainable Development Program (Sustainable MED).

The project aims to assist the governments of countries in the Mediterranean region to ensure the sustainability of their natural resource base in support of their economic development programs.

Its objectives include strengthening environmental management systems, enhancing the private sector’s collaboration on environment issues, and promoting the integration of environmental issues into development policies.

The total project cost is estimated at $9.6 million.
