The representative of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Lebanon, Ali Moumen, launched a project funded by FAO’s Telefood program in South Lebanon on December 20.

Through the project, FAO provided equipment for a center for manufacturing agricultural products in the Southern town of Counin. The supplies included tools used for drying, distilling, and packaging agricultural goods.

According to FAO figures, Lebanon has so far received 39 Telefood projects totaling $490,000. The funds were mostly allocated for interventions on a community level. The areas covered by Telefood projects were crop production, fruit trees, poultry and sheep farming, food processing, and beekeeping.
