Four Lebanese Billionaires
Annual survey for Arab billionares in 2009 includes four Lebanese public figures, and ranks Saad Hariri as top richest in Lebanon

Prime Minister Saad Hariri came in 18th place on the list, up from the 31st place in 2008. The magazine estimated Hariri’s fortune at $4.3 billion.

Hariri’s brother, Ayman Hariri ranked in 34th place, edging up two positions from the previous year with an estimated fortune of $2.4 billion. 

Bahaa Hariri was also included in the list. He came in 36th place, down five positions from 2008, with an estimated fortune of $2.3 billion.

The list also included former Deputy Prime Minister, Issam Fares who was considered the 37th richest  in the Arab world, down five positions from last year with an estimated fortune of $2.3 billion.

The survey estimated the total wealth of the Arab billionaires at $207 billion in 2009, up 4 percent from last year. The fortunes of the four Lebanese businessmen accounted to 5 percent of the total figure.

Saudi Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal topped the list of billionaires with a fortune of $18 billion, up $1 billion from 2008 despite the losses he endured in his overseas investments following the global financial crisis.
