The Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Lebanon (FCCIA) signed a cooperation agreement with Hospitality Services, the organizer of the annual HORECA exhibition for the hospitality and restaurants sector.

The managing director of Hospitality Services, Joumana Salameh, said that the two parties will be working towards making HORECA a regional hub for the hospitality sector. She said that the agreement mainly involves Lebanon, but could expand into Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Through the agreement, Hospitality Services and the FCCIA will team up to organize a number of activities to promote the tourism and restaurants sectors. Among the activities under the agreement is the upcoming ‘International Food Safety Seminar’. The seminar, which will be held on March 21, is within the activities of the HORECA 2012 exhibition in BIEL. The seminar is also in the context of the national campaign for food safety.

The FCCI and Hospitality Services also plan to establish a culinary institute specialized in the Lebanese cuisine. “The culinary institute aims to preserve, spread, and share Lebanon’s culinary heritage,” Salameh said.
