The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) launched on March 13 a tender for the construction of the Roumieh-Beit Mery intersection and the Kennabet Broumana overpass. The deadline for submitting the tenders is on April 18.

The cost of tender documents is $2,500. Only contractors authorized by the CDR to build projects costing more than $20 million are allowed to bid.

The projects are 75 percent funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD).

The two projects are part of the major Metn expressway. The mountainous highway is 12 km in length. It links the coastal area of Metn with the town of Baabdat in upper Metn. The project includes building 20 bridges and overpasses, and four intersections.

The total construction cost of the Metn Expressway was initially estimated at $50 million.
