MTC Touch, which will soon be rebranded as ‘Touch’, has recently launched a national roaming service. The new service enables subscribers to the Alfa network to switch to the MTC network if they lose signal in remote areas.

According to Ghada Barakat, MTC’s marketing director, mobile phone users must subscribe to Alfa’s roaming service. The national roaming service will not operate unless the signal on the Alfa network is zero.

The national roaming service is part of the network upgrading plan which the Ministry of Telecommunications announced last December.

Alfa plans to launch the same service by the end of the month. This would enable MTC phone lines to switch to Alfa’s network when they don’t have coverage.

According to Barakat, MTC will cover 26 sites which are not covered by Alfa’s network, while Alfa will be covering 21 sites which are not covered by MTC’s network.
