The Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI) supports a call by labor unions to hold a nationwide forum to discuss economic concerns.

“The ALI supports the demand by the General Confederation of Labor Unions (GCLU) to hold an economic dialogue,” the president of the ALI Neemat Frem said in a statement.

The GCLU on Saturday issued a statement criticizing the Cabinet’s performance in tackling social and economic concerns, mainly the unrelenting power blackouts.

Frem blamed the absence of the State for the increasing threats to domestic security. “We’ve already cautioned against the impact of the deteriorating (socio-economic) conditions on civil peace,” said Frem. He said that the competitiveness of locally manufactured goods is declining in line with the absence of efficient State support.
