The total number of passengers using the Rafiq Hariri International Airport stood at 2.7 million in the first half of the year, 12 percent higher than the first half of 2011.

In June alone, the number of incoming passengers rose by 2.6 percent, while outbound passengers grew by ten percent.

Passengers at the airport were up despite a decline in tourist inflows, which were down by six percent y-o-y in the first five months. This is mainly attributed to the sharp drop in overland travel.
