The Ministry of Interior launched on Thursday a project to support financial reform at municipalities. The project is funded through a $24 million grant from the European Union.

Marwan Charbel, the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, said the project aims to support the ministry’s efforts towards administrative decentralization through empowering immobilized municipalities.

Angelina Eichhorst, head of the EU delegation, said the project targets 70 percent of local municipalities which often face challenges in attracting investments and offering adequate public services.
