The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and DHL recenly held the 'Get Airports Ready for Disaster' (GARD) training, which prepares the Airport for the post-disaster logistics situation.

GARD training aims to improve local logistics capacities so that the bottlenecks at disaster –site airports can be avoided when huge volumes of incoming relief goods arrive ad hoc. The GARD instructors are specially trained logistics and training experts from Deutsche Post DHL, they will train around 31 participants in the Beirut airport.

The GARD Program was developed by UNDP and DHL in 2009.
