Global Cargo line, a Beirut-based company that specializes in the transport heavy industrial and agricultural machinery and vehicles, has been chosen to represent the UK’s Project Cargo Network (PCN) as local agents.

“We share the same standards with PCN in implementing projects, and their experience is similar to ours,” said Gaby Azzi, the company’s owner and general manager.

PCN needs a local agent as per the law that forbids foreign shipping companies from setting up offices locally without a local guarantor.

Azzi said his company has applied for a tender to transport heavy electric transformers to the Deir Ammar and Jiyeh power plants, as part of the renovations planned for the two power stations.

“(The power plants will need) very big nine-meter tall transformers that weight 270 tons each. We will benefit from PCN’s experience in this area, since the job needs special cranes and winches to move the transformers to the power stations,” said Azzi.

PCN will also benefit from Global Cargo Line’s expertise in carrying out regional transport operations. Global Cargo Line was founded in 2008.
