The University of Balamand (UoB) will launch its Souk el Gharb branch by October 2014. “Efforts are underway to launch academic programs during the academic year 2014-2015,” said Nadim Karam, vice-president at the UoB.

During its first phase of operation, the campus will accommodate up to 1,000 students in around seven academic lines. The campus will be offering academic programs within the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Sciences, Business, Health Sciences, and Institute of Technology.
“The university plans to offer undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor Level degrees during the first phase,” said Karam.

According to Karam, the decision to have a campus in Souk el Gharb aims to serve the needs of residents of Mount Lebanon and its surrounding areas. The campus stretches over some 50,000 square meters of land.
