Despite soured market, citrus remains a staple

The country’s citrus producers are feeling a little sour as the conflict in Syria hinders agricultural exports.

Nevertheless, local citrus from sweet mandarins to tart lemons are ripening to perfection due to the recent rains, farmers said. And the fruits will go on to brighten rich winter meals, give cocktails a zing and stave off the sniffles with loads of Vitamin C as they come into season for the winter.
