The Lebanese Hospital - Geitaoui is expanding its premises in Ashrafieh. The new building, adjacent to the hospital's current location, will be ready in 2016. The cost of investment in Geitaoui’s new building is around $20 million.

The expansion will increase the number of beds to 275 from 160 currently. The new building will have an area of 14,000 square meters, and will comprise 13 floors, including five underground levels. The building includes a parking for 350 cars.

The new development will generate some 200 new jobs, increasing the number of staff at the hospital to 600.

The building will also host lecture halls for up to 300 students. The hospital will sign an agreement with the Lebanese University (LU), Faculty of Medicine. According to the terms of this five-year agreement, the LU will support the hospital in developing medical services and funding research programs. The hospital will, in turn, enroll faculty students for training. Dr. Pierre Yared, Director Manager at the Geitaoui hospital said: “The hospital will exclusively accept students from the Lebanese University for training.” Around 90 students graduate from the LU Faculty of Medicine each year.

Yared said the agreement aims to boost the medical services and increase the academic level of the hospital. There will also be cooperation between the hospital’s library and the university.
