Cimenterie Nationale has submitted a proposal to fund and build pedestrian bridges in areas of dense urban concentration. The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation welcomed the initiative.

“The proposal to build pedestrian overpasses is part of the company’s 60th anniversary activities,” said Roger Haddad, Communications Manager at Cimenterie Nationale. The Ministry will supply the company with studies on areas that witness the highest number of traffic accidents, Haddad said. More than 200 people die and 1,500 are wounded while crossing roads each year.

The company still hasn’t decided where to build the bridges. “Our next step is to use the information we have to determine the type and location of the bridges,” Haddad said.
