Local jewellery makers Cheaib Jewellery Collection Group (CJCG) will be inaugurating their new premises in Sassine in early 2014.

Bassam Cheaib, a shareholder in the company, said investments in the project will reach around $7 million.

The building, located near ABC in Sassine Square, will comprise 11 floors, each with a space of 160 square meters. A jewellery showroom will cover the first three floors, while the fourth floor will be dedicated to leather goods. The top floor is designed to host a cigar lounge. “We are currently studying options regarding the operator of the lounge,” Cheaib said. The rest of the building will hold the company’s offices.

Cheaib Jewellery is managed by its founder Nabil Cheaib. It operates through its factory in Sed el Bouchrieh and supplies several retailers in the local market and abroad. The company has shops in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and the KSA.

The group plans to expand its reach in the region through opening additional showrooms in the GCC. “There is a high demand on locally manufactured jewellery because its high-end products can compete with international names,” Cheaib said.

Two projects are underway for the local market, Cheaib said. A new showroom is planned for Kaslik, and another one is expected to open in Beirut’s Downtown District. “The opening in Kaslik will be announced soon, but our projects for downtown Beirut are postponed for a while, until the end of the economic slowdown,” he said.
