The Minsitry of Public Health (MoPH) will soon inaugurate the Minieh Hospital in North Lebanon. The hospital, which has been established through a $6.5 million grant from Kuwait, is expected to start its operations by mid-April.

Bahij Arbid, Advisor at the MoPh, said: “Minieh hospital used to be a medical center, and the Kuwaiti Red Crescent (KRC) undertook the establishment and equipping of the hospital.” The Council of Development and Reconstruction (CDR) took on the construction of the new building. The hospital’s board of directors will be appointed by the MoPH.

The hospital includes 40 beds. The MoPH has allocated around $200,000 to the hospital to cover the expenses of hospitalizing patients treated at the Government’s expense. The MoPH has also allocated to the hospital a budget to hire qualified staff. Arbid said: “The MoPH usually allocates a budget to all new public hospitals.” He said that the MoPH will hold employment exams to recruit staff.
