Virgin Radio Lebanon, an international radio station, was recently launched locally. The station broadcasts on 89.5 FM frequency. The official launch is scheduled for May 1 and will be attended by Virgin Group founder Sir Richard Branson.

The radio’s franchise is brought by Levant Media Hub, a new company whose major shareholders include Guy Manoukian and Makram Zard Abou Jaoude, the station’s Chairman. Naji Chrabieh will be the station’s General Manager.

“The launching of Virgin Radio-Lebanon enriches the local radio market,” said Manoukian. "The radio advertising market, currently valued at $10 million, is expected to grow to $12 million during the first year of Virgin Radio’s operation," said Manoukian. The radio station already operates in several countries worldwide and plans to expand in different countries in the MENA region.

“We are very optimistic about the new station and our expectations are high despite the current market stagnancy,” Manoukian said.

Manoukian said the station will have to compete with the already available local stations, but it will supply its audiences with a more diversified choice. Virgin Radio-Lebanon’s head offices are located in Al Moudir (Zardman headquarters) in Jal El Dib.
