Local businesspersons seeking opportunities in Romania will soon be able to obtain visas within three working days, said Nabil Fahed, Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIAB).

Fahed said this step comes in line with an action plan expected as of this July to enhance bilateral business ties.

“We have more than 3,700 Lebanese companies and businesses active in Romania, and strengthening mutual business relations with the hosting country will be motivational and inspiring for many others,” Fahed said.

According to Fahed, local manufacturers are looking to improve the size of exports to Romania. Imports from Romania reached $195 million in 2012 while our exports to it only totaled $3.3 million, he said.

Fahed said that facilitating business with Romania “will open up the gate to the rest of Eastern Europe, where local businesses can tap high potential markets such as the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.” Lebanese businesses in Romania are mostly active in the agriculture sector, notably poultry, as well as alcoholic products, he said.
