The Central Inspection Committee adopted the Ministry of Energy and Water’s recommendation to hold Karadeniz Powership, the owner of the Fatmagul power barge, liable for the its shutdown last April. Earlier, the company had claimed it halted production because of the low quality of fuel supplied by the government.

The company was also found liable for the delay in the promised arrival of the second power barge which was supposed to dock at Jiyyeh last month. The second ship, Orhan Bey, is scheduled to arrive by August 12.

According to the terms of the contract signed with the government, Karadeniz Powership will be fined $1,000 per Megawatt for each day of delay.
