The Directorate of Control and Inspection at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) released its main financial results for 2012, showing additional revenues of $36 million.

Inspection was carried out in 7,579 institutes and covered 41,773 employees, representing ten percent of the total number of employees in the country. This led to the subscription of an additional 3,535 employees, of which 2,891 were Lebanese and 644 were foreigners. The Directorate also cancelled about 269 subscriptions for ‘fictitious’ employees that were illegally benefiting from NSSF coverage.

The NSSF said it recently improved its control and inspection function by hiring some 82 new inspectors and promoting 36 existing ones.
