Pharma M opened a new factory for manufacturing dietary supplements in Broummana. The company produces supplements such as vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Marwan Malek, General Manager of Pharma M, said: “Our aim is to manufacture products that are not available in the local market, and produce supplements with new formulas.”

The total investment in the new factory is $2 million. The facility stretches over 900 square meters. Its optimal capacity is 600,000 units (bottles of supplements) per year. It is expected to start producing about 200,000 units in the first year, according to Malek.

The factory will create about 25 jobs. Pharma M had obtained incentives for investment from the Investment Development Authority (IDAL) including income tax exemption for ten years.

Raw materials for this industry are imported from Switzerland, France, and the US. Malek said: “We aim to enhance the quality of local products to compete with European ones, especially since our prices are similar.”

Pharma M seeks to export its products to Arab countries first, and then expand to African markets.

Pharma M was established in 2006. It imports and distributes pharmaceuticals, herbal remedies, and medicines to the local market. The company also packs some imported supplements.
