The Ministry of Energy and Water announced that fines will be imposed on Karadeniz Powership Holding, the owner of the two power ships, due to the delay of the second power ship, Orhan Bey.

The Orhan Bey was supposed to dock in Jiyeh last June. It was delayed 67 days due to complications with the first power ship, Fatmagûl Sultan, according to the Turkish company.

According to the terms of the contract signed with the government, Karadeniz Powership will be fined $1,000 per Megawatt for each day of delay. Karadeniz will be obliged to pay $5.5 million to Électricité du Liban.

Karadeniz Powership Holding connected their second power barge, Orhan Bey, to the Jiyyeh power plant on September 4. The vessel is now ready to generate more than 82 megawatts (MW) of electricity.

The first vessel, Fatmagûl Sultan, is currently linked to the Zouk power plant, and has resumed production of 170 MW.
