The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will supply and install 102 greenhouses in the North.

Farmers from the municipalities of Wadi El Jamous, Bebnine, Muhammara, Bhannine, Minieh, and Halba will benefit from this project as a first step .

According to the UNDP, the rehabilitation of greenhouse crop production was identified as a priority, after the war and incidents of 2006 and 2007. The greenhouses will contribute to reducing unemployment and emigration, and could help the region prosper and progress.

The UNDP will provide farmers with further support in the form of organic fertilizers and other equipment.

The project is financed by the Lebanon Recovery Fund, a Government-led program funded by Spain.
