Zoomaal, the local crowdfunding platform, initiated the “Hivos Creativity Competition” in partnership with Hivos, an international development organization supported by private donors in the fields of art, innovation, and social development.

The competition aims to promote originality by ensuring that at least one project will receive support. It will run from October 1 to November 1.

Interested candidates will post their ideas for creative projects on Zoomaal’s platform for the chance to win up to $10,000.

Each project’s campaign must have a fundraising goal and a deadline. If the project’s owners were not able to reach their goal within the deadline, all the money will be returned to the original donors.

Projects must fit into one of these categories: Animation & comics, design, dance, theater, music, film, web & mobile, photography, or literature. Submitted projects must have an impact in the Arab world, particularly in developing countries.

Projects should have a defined goal and should not be open-ended. Example projects are writing a book, creating a prototype for a product, or making a short-documentary. Starting a business or working for a cause, for example, does not qualify as a project.

Bonuses will be given to projects that pass social media targets such as achieving over 10,000 likes on their Facebook page. Each mention on TV, radios, known blogs, etc. will score projects an extra 0.2 points.
