The Beirut Social Media Exchange launched ‘Tasharuk’ (Arabic for ‘collaborate’), an online library of social media materials for NGOs, civil society groups, trainers, and activists. The project is funded by Hivos, an international development organization supported by private donors in the fields of art, innovation, and social development.

Tasharuk, still in its beta phase, compiles key knowledge resources and categorizes them in more than two dozen relevant categories by type of channel and service. All content is open and free to use.

“Tasharuk is a not-for-profit project, and it aims specifically to help people in the region,” said Mohamad Najem, co-founder of the Beirut Social Media Exchange.

Najem said the project’s finalization will extend over three years. “We are planning to make the website more interactive and build more materials around solving problems.”
