The Lebanese Agricultural Research Institution (LARI) announced adopting a new type of rough wheat from the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (Acsad). This type of wheat is called ‘Acsad 1105’, and will be called locally ‘Tal Amara 3’.

Field studies in Tal Amara for this harvest showed that this type of wheat is of good quality and has high productivity. Acsad 1105 proved its ability to resist wheat diseases in the Bekaa, and is also fit for irrigated agriculture.

Each hectare produces about two tons of wheat in regions with low rainfall, five tons in regions with high rainfall, and up to seven tons in irrigated fields.
