Local mobile operator Touch has launched for the first time in the local market, the cash back concept, through the ‘Magic Plus Package’. Users will be able to buy a device and retrieve its price.

The Magic Plus Package consists of a ‘Magic’ prepaid line with $5 initial credit and any of the pre-listed handsets. Upon purchase of the package, the user is automatically reimbursed for the price of the handset through his line balance in 12 monthly installments.

According to Nadim Khater, Chief Commercial Officer at Touch, this package does not resemble those brought by Vodafone or Orange operators abroad, which offer the mobile phone to postpaid users, for a set package with a data plan. Magic Plus is a rather new way to refund the subscriber by sending him credit.

The package comes in three offers. Magic Plus 1 costs $24, including $19 as the price of the device and $5 as communication credit, with a monthly refund of $1.58. Customers can choose between the Nokia 105 and Samsung E1205.

Magic Plus 2 costs $44, with a monthly refund of $3.25. Buyers can choose between the Nokia 110 and Samsung E2200. And the Magic Plus 3 costs $95, with a monthly refund of $7.5. Devices to choose from include the Nokia 301 and Samsung S5301. All packages come with $5 initial credit and are available at all Touch resellers.

Khater said that these packages are dedicated to entry level users who might be carrying a mobile phone for the first time. Magic Plus aims at offering these users an affordable communication medium. “We are trying out the package and we will be upgrading it by introducing newer devices and new social segments if it succeeds.”

Touch has already signed agreements with local authorized sellers of both Nokia and Samsung, and we might include new suppliers.
