NRJ HITS, a new music TV channel by the NRJ Lebanon radio station, will be on the air starting November 25, 2013, said Jyad Murr, Managing Partner at MTV Lebanon, NRJ, and Nostalgie. Both he and Anthony Nahas will manage the station.

The station targets young and active audience and will broadcast in English. After a soft launch phase, the official broadcast will happen in January 2014.

NRJ HITS will be the first Lebanese music TV channel, specializing in international hit music videos, adapted to local styles. It will also broadcast exclusive concerts and music events.

“Even though the local market is relatively small, opening our TV station now enables us to benefit from one hundred percent of the market share, as the sole people with such concept,” Murr said.

The station will be located in the MTV Studiovision’s property, benefitting from the station’s infrastructure, facilities, and team. It will start with 12 dedicated employees, but the team is expected to grow further. Murr said that they are not yet sure whether the channel will be broadcasting online as well.

NRJ is part of the Radio Mount Lebanon (RML) group created in 1979 by Jyad Murr, who is the major shareholder and General Manager. The group was created along with RML, one of the first private radio stations.
