Caremed Holding intends to open the Keserwan Medical Center (KMC) in Ghazir. The official opening will be in early 2014. KMC will be affiliated with the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC).
“It was feasible to open there, since there is a big shortage in hospitals in this region,” said May Fares, General Secretary. Caremed Holding also owns the Centre Hospitalier du Nord (CHN), chaired by Dr. Cezar Bassim.
KMC will be a university general hospital that offers all medical services. The hospital will have a total built-up area of 34,000 square meters and will comprise 165 beds. “We will start with 70 clinical beds first, to gradually reach full capacity,” said Fares.
The new hospital will create about 600 jobs and about 150 doctors will offer their services.
KMC is applying a green approach in the build. Construction materials will be environmentally-friendly. The hospital will apply the standards that comply with the Joint Commission International (JCI).
Caremed Holding also plans to open the Beirut Surgery Center (BSC) in Mathaf, in 2014. It will be on a short-stay basis. BSC will comprise 21 beds for those who need to spend at least one night in the hospital. Only minor surgeries like eye and nose surgeries will be performed.
