Local hotel, The Monroe, has entered a $3.5 million renovation that will be completed by mid 2015.

The hotel’s rooms, suites, ballroom, restaurants and pool, which may be restored or transformed into a diner will all be revamped and the electro-mechanical and piping systems will also be refurbished.

The Monroe is owned by the Lebanese Army, but managed and run through a long term contract by Pierre Achkar, also manager of the Markazia Monroe hotel (owned by a Saudi investor), and owner of the Printania Palace Hotel, in Broumana. Achkar is the Chairman of the Syndicate of Hotel Owners.

“It is a good time to launch a renovation, as the occupancy rates are low,” said Achkar. The hotel continues to receive guests in the available rooms.
