A protocol partnership was signed between the French government agency, Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the agricultural cooperatives of Bint Jbeil, on February 18, to develop the olive oil sector in this region.

The agreement aims to increase the production capacity of the oil press equipment in the Bint Jbeil caza from 700 kilograms per hour to 1,500.

The Association for the Development of Rural Capacities (ADR) will be executing the project, in partnership with a French company as well as the French battalion working with UNIFIL.

The cost of investment in the project will reach $190,000. AFD will fund part of the project, and the cooperatives and municipalities will pay about $95,000.

Seven municipalities signed the protocol: Borj Kalaway, Srifa, Froun, Kounine, Rshaf, Hola.
The French battalion already installed oil presses for four cooperatives in Bint Jbeil.
