The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) will launch studies into the construction of two U-shaped bridges in Jal el Dib.

The first bridge will serve traffic coming out of Jal el Dib and accessing Beirut. It will be constructed near the Bo Concept store in Antelias.

The second one will serve Jounieh commuters going to Jal el Dib and Antelias. It will be located near the Mazda showroom on the coastal road.

During morning rush hour, the southern bridge is expected to serve 1,200 vehicles. The northern bridge will serve 1,400 vehicles.

“Expropriations will be made in parallel to the studies,” said Elie Helou, Project Manager at the CDR. The study needs three months. The tender will take around six months and works will be completed within 14-18 months, according to him.

“The timeline to start work depends on when we receive the required funds,” said Helou. The project will cost $58 million, fully funded by the State.
