The Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture in Tripoli and North in collaboration with the Business Incubation Association of Tripoli (BIAT) and Notre Dame University launched the 'Promoting Intergenerational Learning in Mediterranean Countries' (PRIME) project on July 7. The project aims to develop the jewelry industry in the local market.

The European Union financed around $1 million of the project. The total value of the project is $1.2 million.

Fawas Hamedi, General Manager of BIAT, said: “We will be bringing experts in the gold and jewelry sector to train the new generation and help them launch their own business.”

The project will target young entrepreneurs who aim to establish new companies or inherit the management in family business.

Khaled El Namel, Chairman of the Syndicate of Jewelers in Tripoli, said: “Tripoli is one of the most important markets for jewelry, and it comprises some of the best handicrafts.”

Hamedi said: “Creativity in designs became a trend recently; we will choose the most creative people to train, coach and support.”
