Local cement conglomerate, Holcim Liban announced that it will pay out dividends of 96 cents per share on its profits for 2013, and 33 cents per share on profits of its subsidiary, Société Libanaise des Ciments Blancs.

Holcim’s sales in the local market reached 2,117 million tons in 2013, registering an 11 percent increase (2,081 million tons) compared to 2012. According to the company, this increase is based on the number of large projects in Beirut and Mount Lebanon which are still under construction.

Holcim’s reported profits of $22 million last year, increasing from $19 million in 2102.

Holcim opted not to export cement last year, in order to meet local market demand, and to store sufficient product for future use.  Even its exports of white cement decreased about ten percent in 2013 to reached 27,600 tons.
