The new center aims at developing beekeeping management capabilities for the 900 beekeepers in the North and fight poverty in the district.

The project had a total cost of over $400,000 and was financed by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID).

The Safadi Center said that it plans to enhance the apiculture sector in Lebanon to include the country as one of the top exporting countries to Europe.

For this purpose, new laboratories will be set-up to ensure the good quality of honey and its compliance with international standards, the Center said.
