A new project was announced Monday by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Trade in Tripoli and the North to support the city’s economic development. The project, funded by former Prime Minister Najib Mikati, has a budget of $25 million.

Sobhi Abdul Wahab, Advisor to Chamber Chairman Toufic Dabbousi, said: “An administrative body was formed to overlook the execution of programs related to food and traditional industries in the city.”

Members of the board are former Minister Nicolas Nahas, and businessmen Maher Mikati, Huda Alameddine, Jamal Ramadan, Adel Afiouni, and Tarek Al Saadi.

“This is a promising initiative by the Chamber which will develop various facilities including the business incubator BIAT, the quality monitoring lab, and the traditional soap manufacturing plant to support the initiative,” he said.
