The local newspaper An Nahar is planning to launch ‘annahar.tv’ before the end of the year, according to the paper’s Paul Assaf.

MP Nayla Tueini, Chairwoman, announced the new channel during the celebration of the newspaper’s 81st anniversary. She said that An Nahar will be riding the rise in a interactive media. It will be among the first Arabic newspapers to launch such a project.

“We are currently finalizing the platform of the channel,” said Assaf. He said that promotions and small videos are currently being broadcasted over An Nahar’s website to introduce the audience to the coming channel.

According to Assaf,  An Nahar made its digital debut in 2009 with the launch of its Web TV. “The difference between the Web TV and the new channel is the varied program grid,” he said.

The channel will include cooking, fashion, health, and sport programs, and other features. News will not be broadcasted live during the first phase, due to technical limitations.

The channel will be accessible free of charge.
