'Mace’, a renovated hotel on Jeanne d’Arc Street in Hamra, has soft opened, with a new name: ‘The J Hotel & Spa’. Its grand opening is slated for mid October.

The hotel was founded by Yaacoub Jarroug in 1969 as a two-star property. It has been renovated and upgraded to become a four star hotel, according to its Managing Director, Wael Bou Jaoude. “We applied for the 4-star accreditation of Bureau Veritas, and we are waiting to become fully ready to acquire the certification.” The renovation is estimated at $3-$5 million.

The hotel has a new management company, ‘Cru for Hospitality Consultancy’, co-founded by Bou Jaoude. He is also the co-founder of ‘Cru’, a restaurant and wine bar on Makdessi Street, Hamra.

The hotel has 49 rooms, a garden restaurant, and a cigar lounge. It also offers several amenities such as a gym and a spa. Bou Jaoude said that the hotel was revamped as a business hotel.
