Castania, a local roasting company, will open a new facility in Hsoun, Jbeil in early 2015. Peter Daniel, CEO, said: “The reason behind this expansion is to meet increasing local and international demand.”

Castania invested $10 million in the Hsoun project, where it has acquired a 30,000 square meter plot. It is finalizing the first construction phase of the factory, totaling 6,000 m2. “There are future plans to exploit the whole land,” said Daniel.

This facility will create around 200 jobs. The production capacity from this plant and the 20,000 m2 factory Castania owns in Dekouaneh will reach 10,000 tons per year.

Castania exports around 60 percent of its production to 40 countries in the Arab region and Africa, as well as the following: Australia, the United States, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.

Daniel said: “We have large demand from Europeans, as we are meeting their standards. Our products are roasted not dried.”
Castania opened a 3,000 m2 facility in Jordan last year, to meet demand from Arab countries.
