Northern entrance to Beirut expanded
Share
A project to expand and improve the northern entrance of Beirut was kicked off.
The project includes the addition of a lane, bringing the total number of lanes to three, between the Charles Helou Bridge and Nahr Beirut.
Al Jihad for Commerce and Contracting is constructing the project, which is expected to be completed in 2016. The Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR) is supervising the works, which also require the removal of center green spaces and construction of support walls near the Port of Beirut.
This is a plan by CDR to improve all of the capital’s entrances in order to reduce traffic congestion at peak times.
