The Russian market is now open to Lebanese traders. Vegetable and fruit traders may begin exporting their products immediately to Russia. Opportunities to export jewelry and wine products will come in further steps.

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Beirut and Mount Lebanon (CCIABML) announced that a delegation of vegetable, fruit and meat traders will visit Russia to meet traders there, in the coming days.

Mohammad Choucair, Chairman of CCIABML, said: “The Russian market needs our products, especially vegetables, fruits, and other food products.”

A Russian delegation will visit Lebanon on December 10 to check the local factories, and the products that can be exported to Russia.

Jacques Sarraf, Chairman of the Lebanese Russian Business Council, said: “Russian authorities have shown their readiness to import food products from Lebanon.” He said that the delegation to Russia had coordinated with the Russian ministers and representatives from the private sector, and understood all the export details.

CCIABML will set up a committee to follow up on the Russian exports. The committee will be chaired by Sarraf, and will include the Minister of Economy and Trade and Industry.

CCIABML will organize a Lebanese exhibition in Russia in June 2015. The chamber signed an agreement with the Russian Union of Chambers to cooperate and transfer information about investment opportunities between both countries.
