The Lebanese Farmers’ Association has established the ‘Lebanon Forever’ association, whose aim is to plant 10,452 cedar trees in various regions, within two years.

Ramiz Osseiran, Head of the Lebanese Farmers’ Association in the South, said: “The project will be self funded, with each member purchasing a $30 cedar tree to plant for themselves.” Each of the 10,452 members will be responsible for preparing, planting, irrigating and taking care of their tree for two consecutive years, according to Osseiran.

The trees will be planted in five regions including Baskinta, Jezzine, Rachaya, with plans to expand to the North. About 1,000 trees will be offered to schools throughout these areas to plant for themselves, while the rest will be planted by the association.

Lebanon Forever will donate a cedar tree to every natural reserve in commemoration of the martyrs of the Lebanese army, who died in between 2012 and 2014.
